HCL® Advisory Board Member Arash Dabestani, who celebrates 10 years on the board, works professionally as a college dean and professor. A native of Iran who grew up in North Carolina, he earned his degrees from Campbell University and UNC Charlotte and specializes in pharmacy administration, operation, technology and academia. He has worked and overseen retail, home health, specialty and hospital pharmacies.

Dabestani said his interest in science and math attracted him to the profession and the human interactions are what keep him intrigued.

“(There’s) never a dull moment,” he said.

The primary challenge facing the industry, Dabestani said, is pharmacy reimbursement for highly valuable services.

Of all his accomplishments, he is most proud of having coached and mentored nearly 50 successful pharmacy leaders.

Away from the office and his advisory board responsibilities, Dabestani enjoys traveling with his family.
