Summer Program Concludes with Capstone Presentations

And just like that, eight weeks have flown by, and our interns have wrapped up this year’s program. To close out their experience, they presented their capstone project to Senior Management, highlighting the departments they explored, the lessons they learned and the takeaways they’ll carry with them long after the summer ends.  

 

Valerie Drake, our VP of Finance and co-coordinator of the internship program, said feedback from last year’s participants inspired a schedule refresh. Rather than just showing what their role was, departments provided hands-on activities to help the interns understand why their work mattered.

 

“I was pleased to work with such a great group of students this year,” Valerie said. “We appreciate the interns’ willingness to learn and contribute, as well as the energy they brought to the organization. A special shout-out goes to Blayton Reid. Returning from last year’s program, he stepped into a leadership role and did a fantastic job managing the interns.”

 

One sentiment resonated across the group, as Nate Hurley put it:

 

“I feel like I have learned more in the last eight weeks than I learned in my entire three years of college.”
