Using Your Team’s Experience and HCL’s Catalog to Solve Problems
Through my years as a Pharmacy Department Director, probably the most valuable lesson I learned was the importance of the art of listening to ideas from the staff. Although I was the director, or leader, of the department, I was always aware that every single person in the department knew their job better and had a closer pulse on the operational details of the department than I did. If I wanted to know what was happening, I needed to ask, then listen.
Tapping into your staff’s collective experience and expertise takes everyone’s time and commitment. When everyone is engaged, it is amazing what you can accomplish. Your relationships with employees, your understanding of the department, your staff’s job satisfaction, and your ability to solve problems will all improve.
When you are looking to solve a problem, look to your frontline staff. They will almost always have ideas as to how to solve challenges, improve a service and stimulate productive discussions. HCL has many tools to solve those problems. Getting more staff involved with the HCL catalog and bantering about ideas will not only expand teamwork, but will tap into those often-overlooked talents of the staff, and inevitably lead to problem solving. All you have to do is give them the chance, listen to ideas and search for the solutions in the catalog.
